…sorry for the light posting the past couple weeks.  I’ve been very busy with press work, selling my house and preparing for the National Stationery Show!  Yikes I am so busy I’m losing it :)  I wanted to share a client designed invitation suite that I finished recently.  Isn’t it sweet?  What would you design for your wedding invitations?

…a do it yourself craft project via decor8

This is my recent project Hancock, named after the location of this beautiful building. The bride wanted this backdrop to her wedding site to be drawn on her wedding invitation.

Here is the coordinating reply card. Ivy will be a part of the ceremony adorning the fences surrounding the ceremony site.

Since the wedding is on location in different state than the bride and her family resides, she needed a direction and accommodation card to remind the guests where they can stay.
The pattern below will be used as an envelope liner. The bride wanted a fun and playful pattern that reflected her bouquet and color scheme of green and yellow.

I love dogwood trees. They are gorgeous and a perfect backdrop to any party. So simple and easy to place in a vase or pot and you have a stunning centerpiece for your table. Naturally, I had to design a wedding invitations around these petite little blooming flowers….take a look….

Etsy is an amazing resource of hand made goods. They are unique and reasonably priced. Many of these sellers will make custom items. You can’t get that kind of service anywhere else. All of these hair accessories were found on Etsy by various shops. Here are some of my favorite hair accessories for this upcoming 2009 wedding season.

The White Wild Rose Fascinator by Brendasbridalveils. This stunning accessory appeals to my vintage side yet it has a modern feel to it as well. I love opposing styles like this.

A Striking Flower with Feather Spikes brendasbridalveils. I love love love french netting. It is so uniquely charming. Perfect for style savvy bride! Available in Ivory, white and black.

The Geneva Hair Accessory by Lulusplendor. This accessory is so vibrant it can easily replace the traditional vail. I love how it won’t overpower your wedding pictures.

The Grace Hair accessory clip by Lulusplendor. I love this clip as well. Shown on a young child, this clip is suitable for a bride, flower girl or bridesmaid.

Frosted Daisy Bridal Hairpins by GlitznGlory. These delicate little flowers are the perfect touch to any hairstyle. They are so simple and elegant. My favorite combination!

The Portia Petite Bridal Hair Combs by GlitznGlory. These hair combs are perfect for a bride or for the mother of the bride/groom. They have that vintage charm that I adore. They are also available in gold.

The White Bloom Hair Accessory by 5eizen. I love this flower bloom. It is simply classic.

The Fluff-Series Crystal Hair Pin by 5eizen. What a perfect little sprig of elegance. Just enough dazzle for the blushing bride.

As promised, here is the first wedding post featuring myself and my husband Brian. We didn’t have a lot of money so many of the elements regarding the wedding were hand-made and created by the both of us. It was a late summer wedding and it was extremely hot that day so don’t mind the special glow we had!

Since my whole family was from out of town, they all stayed at the Kinderhook Bed and Breakfast. Owners Jayne Hester and Bill Laraway have a beautiful home that served as the perfect backdrop for those pre-ceremony photos.
This is a favorite shot of me and my daughter Cameron, the senior flower girl. All photos were taken by Bella Pictures.
The groomsmen had some fun posing after some famously known photos.
Tuxedos were provided by Rodino’s in Troy, New York.

All three of my flower girls wore pink hydrangea flower crowns and carried a flower bucket custom made by me. I attached pink tulle, velvet ribbon and jewel embellishments to ordinary tin buckets from the local hardware store. All wedding flowers were provided by The Rosery Flower Shop.

The Rosery Flower shop also continued the bucket theme with ribbons and gorgeous pink and white flowers that adorned each aisle row.

Soon after our first dance, it started to rain very hard. A tornado watch was declared and the wind starting blowing over flower arrangements and blowing out candles! We feared that all the wedding guests would have to seek shelter in the nearby firehouse……
The storm subsided momentarily revealing the most beautiful electric blue sky. Our photographer got a pretty good shot of it.
Our ceremony took place at our local firehouse in Niverville. They had the perfect outdoor pavilion that they would rent out for storage in the winter months. It needed much work to make it look suitable for a wedding reception. But all it really took were some gorgeous green linens, tables and reception chairs provided by Party Rentals Ltd. We also added our own touches with the lighting. Notice the globe lights that surround the pavilion perimiter. Brian and I also made hundreds of hanging candle lanterns made out of mason jars. There was beautiful candlelight glowing from every open beam of the pavilion ceiling.

One of the best compliments I recieved about my wedding was that my guests said that they forgot where they were. The moment they stepped into the firehouse pavilion, they felt like they were at a fancy venue…not at their local rescue squad.
I love desserts! I couldn’t play favorites with any one particular sweet, so my guests got a complete table devoted to sugary indulgences. I opted out of regular wedding cake and went for cheesecake. Our family has always celebrated special occasions with cheesecake. The recipe has been in the family for generations. The display cheesecakes were made by my sister and matron of honor, Traci.
One of the reasons I married Brian was his ability to always make me laugh. No matter what is going on in our lives, he always helps me keep my chin up and look at the positive. I hope we continue to live our lives this way: brightly positive and together.
